Ethan Somers, CFA

Vice President, Portfolio Research and Management

As the Vice President, Portfolio Research and Management, Ethan serves as a key contributor to the firm’s active portfolio positioning. He brings a multi-asset discipline with a primary focus on the global equity and fixed income markets. In this role, Ethan utilizes a fundamental, top-down approach informed by macroeconomic, quantitative, and qualitative frameworks. Ethan’s objective is to add value to the firm’s asset allocation strategies in the form of downside risk mitigation and superior risk adjusted returns. He pursues these objectives by seeking to uncover and capitalize on gaps between the fundamental macroeconomic environment and what is currently priced into asset markets. By taking advantage of both episodic event-driven market opportunities and longer-term mispricing opportunities, consistent with the firm’s investment philosophy, Ethan has added value to the firm’s investment strategies over the last several years.

With more than a decade of experience, Ethan came into this role after serving as the firm’s Senior Market Strategist. Ethan was formerly the Director of the Investment Department at Baystate Financial Services, before joining Baystate Wealth as an analyst in 2016. Ethan is a CFA® charterholder, and passed all three levels on his first attempt. He graduated from the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business in 2011, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA). He resides in Boston and is a native of the North Shore of Massachusetts
